Saturday April 5th 2025 the Sumner County ARES group activated the N4SCA call sign for a severe weather net. AEC Jon M, W4JDM, activated the net around 1649 hours. The net ran for approximately 1.5 hours and received 34 check ins with lots of traffic. Multiple damage reports were relayed to the NWS.
Jon did an excellent job taking check-ins and managing traffic. Jon held the net at a cadence he was comfortable with as the traffic was coming in faster than anyone could log. Multiple radio operators, some not associated with SCARA or SCARES joined the Weekend Wind Down Net on April 7th and gave praise to Jon for his impeccable performance on the Weather Net! These operators admitted they did not know who the Net Control Station was which laid even more credence to the outstanding performance we witnessed in the time of need for Sumner County and the community at large!
At least 1 tornado was confirmed in the county with other areas receiving severe wind damage.
Great job Jon. We are proud to have you as a Sumner County ARES AEC, you did a great job and we can all learn from your performance. This will be a be a tough bar to reach for others.
